This item is made of 316L Implant Grade Stainless Steel. The insertion pins come in a package of 2 and have a thickness of 14ga (1.6mm) and a length of 2.4" (60mm).

There are two styles of insertion taper available:

Style A: This taper has a hollow end, but "No Thread Inside" - it will not screw onto your externally threaded jewelry, it is simply for holding.

Style B: This taper has no hollow, it is just for stretching the piercing hole to a 14g (1.6mm) thickness.

The functions of each style are as follows:

Style A: Used for assisting in the placement of a piercing shaft. Put the piercing bar into the end of the pin, then push it through. The pin will come out of the hole and the piercing bar will be in place. This is great for changing jewelry. The groove at the end helps prevent slipping and covers the external thread to avoid injuries during insertion, protecting the skin from scratches.

Style B: Used to stretch or enlarge a piercing hole for the purpose of gauge modification, increasing the size from 16g to 14g. Some alcohol should be used during this process.

The advantages of these insertion tapers are:

  1. More safe and smooth than acrylic tapers, which can harbor bacteria and are difficult to heal.
  2. Painless and safe when the piercing bar is pushed into the hole, as the large end covers the external thread.
  3. Does not irritate as the taper gradually increases in size.
  4. Can be used to reinsert or reopen a piercing hole that has shrunk or started to close, without needing to revisit a piercer.
  5. Not as needle-sharp, but pointed enough for the task.

Tips for use:

  1. Go slowly when stretching, or use a lubricant, to allow the taper to glide through smoothly and painlessly.
  2. Push the piercing bar through slowly to allow time for adjustment.
  3. The tapers can be autoclaved and reused, as they are more comfortable and durable than steel.
  4. There is no internal thread, as the external thread on your jewelry may not match, so holding the bar is better.
  5. These tapers cannot be used with threadless piercing jewelry.
